On December 24, 2021, healthy ODOP products produced by NAFED under the Pradhan Mantri Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprise (PM FME) Scheme, were promoted at the Fit India T-20 Cricket Match organized by Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan. This event was held at KV No1, Delhi Cantonment in New Delhi.
The overall objective of the PM FME scheme is to systemize and empower the Micro Food Processing Enterprises (MFPEs) in India. To achieve this goal, the PM FME scheme has adopted the One District One Product (ODOP) approach which has the potential of broadening Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi’s vision of expanding India’s local food manufacturing sector.
NAFED, in association with Centre for Strategy and Leadership (CSL), is developing various brands and products following the ODOP concept, under the PM FME scheme. CSL, NAFED’s Strategic Partner, is playing a crucial role here as the Project Implementation Partner by assisting in product development, training, branding, and marketing of the ODOP products.
Shri Nagendra Goyal, Deputy Commissioner, KVS along with Shri Pravin Kumar (Administrative Officer), Shri Praveen Naidu (Principal of KV-1), and more than 60 principals and procurement heads of Kendriya Vidyalayas participated in the buyer-seller meet with a focus on Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan’s institutional requirements.
Shri Amit Goel, General Manager, NAFED briefed these high-profile authorities and procurement heads of the Kendriya Vidyalayas regarding the attributes of ODOP products and their manufacturing process. The products developed and manufactured by the micro food processing enterprises, coming from multiple districts of the country fascinated the Kendriya Vidyalaya officials because of their unique sum of healthiness, premium packaging, and economical price. A majority of people are looking forward to buying these healthy products for personal use, as well as for procurement on behalf of Kendriya Vidyalaya.
This opportunity was also utilized to brief the Members of Parliament regarding the ODOP concept and the products developed under it. Shri Anurag Singh Thakur (Hon’ble Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Information & Broadcasting, Government of India), parliamentarians Shri Manoj Kumar Tiwari, Shri Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, Shri Kamlesh Paswan, Shri Vijay Dubey, Shri Manoj Rajoria, Shri Bhola Singh, Shri Praveen Nishad and Shri Prince Raj visited the ODOP stall to appreciate and support the efforts of micro-enterprises for developing and producing such resourceful and nutritious products.
The parliamentarians and the procurement heads were impressed by the development of such healthy and tasty products by Micro Food Processing Industries of our country and agreed that such MFPEs are a key link to advance PM Narendra Modi’s vision of Aatmanirbhar Bharat.
Shri Anurag Singh Thakur, Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Information and Broadcasting highlighted the need to consume food made of healthy ingredients. He lauded the efforts of MoFPI and NAFED in producing food products with the right mix of healthy and tasty ingredients which will aid the well-being of citizens and Prime Minister Narendra Modiji’s vision of Fit India, Healthy India. The parliamentarians and the procurement heads of Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan appreciated the extensive research and development that went on to produce these ODOP products.
Before the completion of this event, the organizers made sure to highlight the fact that these ODOP products have been manufactured and packed by local enterprises ensuring the best manufacturing standards. The event ended on a positive note with all the guests receiving a sample basket of ODOP products.
